Volunteer Services

Volunteers are not paid - not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.

Each year in April, a week is set aside to honor the efforts of the many volunteers who help staff OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center. In 2012, we recognized 364 active volunteers who donated a collective 48,000 hours - which translates to approximately 23 full-time employees!  Volunteers range in age from 14 up to 94.

A variety of service areas are available to volunteers including:

• Admitting Reception
• Care-A-Van
• Clerical Services
• Emergency Department
• Escorts
• Hospice
• The Family Room
• Hospitality
• Information Desk - Lobby
• Outpatient
• Surgery Waiting Room
• Gift Shoppe
• ReRuns
• Red Cross Blood Drive

Auxiliary

The Auxiliary celebrated 52 years of service in 2011.  It serves to meet the mission of fundraising and generating donations toward purchasing state-of-the-art hospital equipment.  

Past donations include:

• Acuson S2000 Ultrasound System
• 4 Laptop Computers for Visitors and Patients
• SiteRite Needle Guide and Ultrasound Probe System

The Auxiliary raises money through various fundraisers including Deck the Halls and business ventures such as the Gift Shoppe and ReRuns.  Many Auxilians also volunteer their time within the hospital, in addition to contributing toward fundraising efforts.

Gift Shoppe 

The Gift Shoppe is home to a variety of "on-the-go" snacks, magazines, books, flowers, cards, balloons and more!  Our selection can certainly help make a patient's stay more enjoyable.

Known for its treasures and fun variety, the Gift Shoppe also features candles, jewelry, decor, holiday goodies and more... perfect for year-round gift giving!

The Gift Shoppe is staffed by volunteers.  Its proceeds are utilized by the Auxiliary to make important equipment purchases on behalf of the hospital.

Voted one of the best local gift shops according to public survey, the Gift Shoppe is located within the front lobby of OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center.  For more information, call (815) 431-5278.

ReRuns

Whether you’re searching for clothing (men’s, women’s and children’s), furniture, household décor, books, movies or games, ReRuns has a wide variety of fun and affordable treasures for the whole family.

A resale business venture operated by the OSF Saint Elizabeth Auxiliary, ReRuns depends on donations from the community and offers consignments. Also staffed by volunteers, ReRuns serves as another money-maker for the Auxiliary.

Voted one of the best local resale shops according to public survey, ReRuns is located at 719 LaSalle Street in Ottawa.  For more information, call (815) 433-3191.
